Markus Persson makes 'Minicraft' as part of the 22nd Ludum Dare competition

Minecraft creator develops new game in 48 hours

Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson has developed a new browser-based game in just 48 hours.

The game, Minicraft, was created as part of the 22nd Ludum Dare competition, challenging developers to make a game in two days.

It is a top-down action game in which users can mine rocks, chop down trees, fight zombies and create items.

The game’s description reads: “The goal of the game is to kill the only other sentient being in the world, making sure you’ll be alone forever.”

Minicraft can be accessed online for free here.

The Mojang Specifications boss recently announced he would be stepping down from the lead development role on Minecraft and taking a break from development, with Jens Bergensten taking over duties.
