Almost one-in-three registered users have now paid for Mojang Specifications' sensationally popular MMORPG

Minecraft hits 2 million paying players milestone

Over two million consumers have now paid for the popular MMORPG Minecraft.

That’s according to stats recently published on the website of the game’s developer, Mojang Specifications.

The figure means that a million copies have been sold since January this year, when the game hit its first million sales milestone. With some seven million registered to play the game, over 28 per cent have opted to pay the full RRP; an impressive conversion from free to paid customers.

The brainchild of Swedish developer Marcus Persson, the user generated content-focused online game Minecraft remains one of the most infamous indie hits of recent times.
