Number of paying customers has doubled since April

Minecraft hits four million sales milestone

Over four million consumers have now paid for the popular world building game Minecraft, Mojang Specification’s founder Markus ‘notch’ Persson has said.

“Very soon, Minecraft will sell its four millionth copy,” said Persson on twitter, before later stating: “4mil, yay”.

The number of copies sold has doubled since April, when Mojang announced on its website it had sold two million copies.

Minecraft, which is still in beta, is due for full release on 18th November, with an Xbox 360 port coming in 2012.
