Lifetime sales of indie gaming's blockbuster pass 22 million

Minecraft sales pass 11 million on PC

The indie hit Minecraft has passed 11 million lifetime sales on PC today.

The game has become the poster child for indie gaming in the mainstream press, and now commands an audience of over 22 million on PC, Xbox 360, and mobile devices.

The game took off when its early alpha was noticed by the gaming public several years ago, launching the game’s creator , Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, into gaming stardom.

He since founded his own studio, Mojang, and has been listed on Time’s 100 most influential people in the world.

At E3 it was revealed that Minecraft would also be making an appearance on Microsoft’s new console, the Xbox One.
