Mojang co-founder Markus Persson placing second in Time 100 ranking

Minecraft’s Notch currently ranked 2nd most influential person in the world

The creator of indie gaming hit Minecraft is in the running to be named as the second most influential person in the world.

That’s according to the 2013 edition of The Time 100 Poll, which is currently allowing readers to vote on 100 different entries before editors make their final choice next week.

The only person to currently rank higher than Markus Persson, known by many as his online moniker Notch, is Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi.

The list of names Notch is currently beating is quite incredible and includes Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom (3rd), North Korea’s ‘Supreme Leader’ and war fetishist Kim Jong Un (6th), South Korean charts hit Psy (9th), kung fu mentalist Jackie Chan (11th), some American called Barack Obama (12th), Beyonce (15th), David Bowie (20th), the new Pope Francis (22nd) and controversial pop group Pussy Riot (32nd).

UK favourite Piers Morgan currently stands at 71st in the list.
