Mobile developer Disruptor Beam lays off over 30 people – Report

Massachusetts-based mobile developer Disruptor Beam has reportedly let go of over 30 staff, according to reports from Gamasutra. Initially, it was thought that around 10 staff members had gone but a source has said that number is closer to 30-40 people, just under a third of the studio.

The developer is responsible for many licensed free-to-play mobile games including Game of Thrones Ascent, Star Trek Timelines and The Walking Dead: March to War, the latter of which was released in August this year. The reports suggest that the staff losses are across all areas including HR, QA, development and the company’s CTO.

Another game developer, Renzo Heredia, shared a public spreadsheet with the resumes of some of the affected staff, in the hopes of them finding new employment. So far there are 22 people on that list.

In a statement to the Gamasutra, CEO Jon Radoff said, "Today’s headcount reduction reflects increased focus at Disruptor Beam. While right-sizing is an important goal, this is not just about cutting costs.

"We’re deeply sad about having to let some of our staff go, and we wish them the best. Re-focusing our strategy and right-sizing the business was a difficult decision for us, and we are grateful to the entire team for their considerable contributions."

The company did raise more funds in February this year after completing an investment round worth $8.5 million
