Mobile developer Next Games acquires Lume Games

Mobile games developer Next Game have acquired mixed reality specialist, Lume Games. The deal was concluded in February 2017 for an unannounced sum and upon the public announcement, the team has been integrated into Next Games.

Next Games are currently developing a game based on the Blade Runner franchise to tie in with the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 movie and are also supporting another licenced game in The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land. Following the acquisition, as reported by PocketGamer.Biz, the headcount at the studio has increased from 24 to 93, almost tripling.

Lume Games have previously released strategy RPG Hidden Heroes for iOS with 505 Games but also specialise in developing mixed reality products with cloud-based platform Fiware.

The announcement was made during a posting for the companies financial performance, which saw profits of €150,000 compared to the €3 million losses that were posted at the same time last year. The company went public in March on the NASDAQ First North stock exchange in Finland, which gave the developer over €30 million in investment.
