Next game from 22Cans an 'innovative reinvention' of god game

Molyneux launches Kickstarter Populous reboot

22 Cans is wasting no time getting the follow-up to Curiosity primed and ready, and has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Godus.

Godus keeps with its creator’s habit of setting lofty goals, and is billed as an "innovative reinvention" of studio founder Peter Molyneux’s Populous, the first incarnation of the god-game genre.

The project has already attracted over 1,200 backers who have contributed £31,000 of the campaign’s £450,000 goal.

The news was revealed as millions chipped away at Curiosity’s collosal cube, revealing a layer that linked players to the Kickstarter campaign.

"The dream at 22Cans is to make gaming meaningful," reads the project page on Kickstarter.

"Populous was created over 22 years ago, and we believe that to date, nothing has come close to emulating its powerfully godlike experience. It’s this experience we aim to reimagine.

"Godus blends the power, growth and scope of Populous with the detailed construction and multiplayer excitement of Dungeon Keeper and the intuitive interface and technical innovation of Black & White."
