Bulgaria's Eyeball Damage Studios takes $10,000 first prize

MoMinis GameCast contest winners announced

The third annual Mominis GameCast contest, which rewards mobile game development, is over for another year and the winners have been decided.

Judges from GameDuel, GetJar, SlideMe and MoMinis whittled down the entrants to a top three based on innovation, marketability, design, addictive gameplay and originality of games.

The winners are as follows:

* Grand Prize winner of $10,000: Pyxxis 2

Pyxxis 2 is an intricate physics game involving many levels, badges and Pyxxis characters. Its developers are Stoyan Mollov and Petar Trandafilov, from ‘EyeBall Damage’ Game Studios, based in Sofia, Bulgaria.

They said: “When we discovered that we are the grand prize winners we were overjoyed with excitement, because we knew the competitors this year delivered quality and highly polished games, and we couldn’t calm down for the rest of the day.

"The battle was very tough and the joy of winning was even greater."

* Second place winner of $3,000: Giovanni’s Nightmare

An obstacle filled platform game developed by a husband and wife team, Space Ewe Software, based in Cazma, Croatia.

* Third place winner of $2,000: Lost Galaxy

Lost Galaxy is a retro style maze game based on a lost character developed by Ben Pieper and Gunter Pellner from Enschede, Netherlands.

MoMinis offers a cross-platform solution, the MoMinis Studio, for the creation and publishing of games across multiple platforms such as Android, Blackberry, Symbian and J2ME.

These titles are then eligible for distribution via Mominis’ own family of sites, the Mominis Global Distribution Network. The MoMinis Studio is available as a free download at Dev.mominis.com.

The contest ran in partnership with ME as well as GetJar and SlideME.
