Moto GP developer takes in £5.1m, though remains out of profit

Monumental becomes â??fastest growing’ UK developer

Nottingham based game developer Monumental is the sixth-fastest growing technology company in the UK, according to new data.

“We’re really pleased to have entered the Tech Track 100 in such a high position, and alongside some excellent companies," said Monumental CEO Rik Alexander in a statement sent to Develop.

"Our growth is testament to the amazing team spirit that’s here and the great talent we’ve assembled."

The Moto GP developer was one of the fastest risers featured in this year’s Sunday Times list of 100 growing tech companies.

Monumental turned over £5.1 million in the ‘09-10 financial year – a leap from the £346,000 it made three years prior.

However the company, which houses just under 100 staff, is not returning a profit.

This year the MMO and middleware developer closed its Manchester offices.

The firm is now looking to launch its own engine, entitled Prime – dubbed “the world’s first commercially available browser-based 3D MMO engine”.

In what may come as a surprise, only two other game-related companies made the tech list; gaming website operator Gamesys, and e-commerce group The Hut.
