Surge of interest for Hero Engine, vendor claims

‘More than 5,000 devs’ sign Old Republic engine

More than 5,000 developers have licensed Hero Engine following a recent surge in popularity, the tech’s owner has claimed.

Neil Harris, chief operating officer of Idea Fabrik, attributes the surge of interest in MMO development to the successful launches of EA’s Star Wars the Old Republic, which was developed with Hero Engine.

Along with the Hero Engine, Idea Fabrik offers developers a hosting service for 3D online games called Hero Cloud

“In January we have been inundated with thousands of inquiries from studios, large and small, more than in any other period in the company’s existence," said Harris.
