UK base to ramp up for development by 2009

NCsoft to double size of Euro studio

NCsoft has ambitious plans for its UK, Brighton-based studio – with a goal of doubling the studio’s headcount by 2009.

Speaking to Develop sister magazine MCV, NCsoft Europe’s CEO Geoff Heath said that the company will grow two fold thanks to the firm’s internal development capacity.

"The growth over the next couple of years in Europe will come from our own internal studios," said Heath. "The company, purely on the development side, will most likely double over the next 18 months or so."

NCsoft opened its Brighton base in 2004, solely focused on QA and localisation – as we exclusively revealed back in July, the UK HQ, which employs over 100 for its service and community-operating staff, is now growing to develop its own titles.

NCsoft also has an exclusive agreement in place with Sony to develop console titles specifically for the PS3.
