New studio enters recruitment drive

NetEase invests $2.5m in Finnish start-up Reforged Studios

NetEase has invested $2.5 million into Helsinki-based start-up Reforged Studios.

The funding will be used to recruit more staff and accelerate the development of new and existing projects.

The studio was founded earlier this year by a team of former Riot Games, EA, Blizzard, DICE, Ubisoft and LucasArts employees. Its CEO is ex-CCP producer and Riot Games product manager Teemu Vilén.

Reforged Studios’ first title will be released on mobile next year.

"At Reforged we bring together a wealth of experience in core gaming and passion for evocative world-building,” said Reforged CEO Teemu Vilén.

“Our creative vision is unique and ambitious in the high-quality competitive gaming space. Gaming is undergoing unprecedented growth and exciting changes. The partnership with NetEase, a company with tremendous experience on PC and mobile worldwide, allows us to be a part of the future of gaming globally.”
