Session roster for 2008's event starts to firm up

New The Sims 3 and Harmonix game secrets set for GDC unveiling

The organisers of the 2008 Game Developer Conference have revealed the first wave of confirmed sessions for February’s event.

Highlights during the week-long event include:

‘Your Music Is the Game: Designing the OTHER Project at Harmonix’ in which Harmonix will detail the work behind a new music game without peripherals and using algorithmically generated beats.

‘Crysis Next-Gen Effects’, a session from Crytek that looks at the production of Crysis.

and ‘Building An Art Department From Scratch’ which examines how studios can build their art team.

Other sessions include Ubisoft Montreal’s ”Do, Don’t Show’ – Narrative Design In Far Cry 2′, ‘Creating A Character In Drake’s Fortune’ from Naughty Dog, and ‘Implementing Ragdoll Physics On The Nintendo DS’.

GDC 08 runs from February 18th to 22nd in San Francisco. The week long event includes a number of elements, as well as the main conference and expo there’s the Worlds in Motion summit, Casual Games Summit, Independent Games Summit, Serious Games Summit, and Game Outsourcing Summit, plus GDC Mobile.
