Media firm grows empire via purchase of two Eastern European developers

Oberon buys two casual game studios

Oberon Media has acquired two new studios as it continues to ramp up its casual games strategy.

The firm has bought Russian firm Kenjitsu from Nikitova and Ukraine-based Friends Games.

The news comes as the Casual Games Connect: East Europe event kicks off in Kiev, Ukraine.

As part of the deal, Nikitova Games CEO Olya Nikitova is to become VP of online for Eastern Europe at Oberon.

It’s just another step for Oberon, which continues to grow its casual games presence – it acquired mobile phone game outfit I-Play in May this year and iTV game firm PixelPlay in July.

Oberon thinks the latest acquisition will also help it offer maketing and production services to developers in the region.
