Obsidian collaborates with Mail.Ru on Skyforge

Obsidian Entertainment is working with Mail.Ru-owned Russian studio Allods Team to develop new fantasy MMO Skyforge.

Announcing the partnership at the Russian Game Developers Conference, Obsidian CEO Fergus Urquhart said that Skyforge was a promising project, and was confident the studio’s collaboration would help it succeed.

It is not currently clear however what role the Fallout: New Vegas developer will play in the game’s creation.

“Skyforge is a very interesting and promising project and I am glad that Obsidian Entertainment is involved in working on this game,” said Urquhart, as translated by Google.

“I am confident that the cooperation with the Allods Team will be a great experience for all of us.”

Allods Team studio head Oleg Shpilchevsky added that the MMO was one of the most ambitious Russian game development projects it had ever taken on, and hoped Obsidian could provide its expertise in the RPG genre toward the game’s developments

Obsidian is currently working on a number of projects, including its own Kickstarter-title Project Eternity and Southpark RPG.

Planescape lead designer and Obsidian creative director Chris Avellone has also joined InXile’s Planescape: Torment team, after it surpassed a stretch goal of $3.5 million to bring the development veteran on board.
