Fallout: New Vegas studio returns to Black Isle roots with old-school RPG Project Eternity

Obsidian Kickstarter smashes $1m goal in 24 hours

Obsidian Entertainment’s Kickstarter has smashes its $1.1 Kickstarter goal within 24 hours of starting.

The studio has raised more than $1.4m for fantasy RPG Project Eternity from 35,000 backers.

The studio was famously founded by Black Isle veterans Feargus Urquhart, Chris Parker, Darren Monahan, Chris Avellone, and Chris Jones, and Obsidian says the old school approach of Project Eternity marks a return to its roots.

"Project Eternity aims to recapture the magic, imagination, depth, and nostalgia of classic RPGs that we enjoyed making – and playing," reads the project description on Kickstarter.

"At Obsidian, we have the people responsible for many of those classic games and we want to bring those games back.

The $20 contribution – limited to 25,000 backers – has already sold out.

Obsidian currently estimates the game will be completed by April 2014
