39-page document explains how devs can improve user experience and create immersive titles

Oculus details best practices for virtual reality game development

Virtual reality firm Oculus has released a best practices guide for developers interested in making games for its Rift headset.

The detailed 39-page document is designed to help ensure creators avoid user eye strain, improve body comfort and prevents feelings of disorientation and nausea, and assist with the development of immersive and engaging interactions.

The guide covers rendering, minimising latency, optimisation, head-tracking and viewpoint, accelerations, speed, cameras and a plethora of other areas relevant for VR game development.

Oculus will be updating the document, currently in version 0.007, as new best practices are researched and proven.
