Popular tech jobs fair returns with two-day recruitment round in London

Over 800 jobs on offer at two-day Silicon Milkroundabout

Another eight hundred potential jobs are on offer at Silicon Milkroundabout next week in East London.

The recruitment fair targeted at technology start-ups especially is only approaching its fourth event since launching in 2011, but has already become a prominent fixture in the recruitment calendar.

Some of the companies scheduled to attend include Mind Candy, King.com and Plumbee, as well as host of other start-ups in fields outside of game development.

This time the event takes place over an entire weekend.

On Saturday, November 10th, companies will primarily be hiring for product management and design positions – product management, analytics, UX design and Growth Hacking, for instance. On Sunday, November 11th it will be engineering positions software engineering, web development, QA, testing and tech ops. At least 800 jobs are on offer.

There are over 30 companies exhibiting on the Saturday and more than double that figure on the Sunday.

Silicon Milkroundabout was started by the team at concert discovery website Songkick in 2011, and is a reflection of the do-it-yourself culture that is prevalent right now in East London. The Songkick organisers have been reaching out to universities encouraging graduates, but are also interested in hearing from veterans, as there are senior positions on offer at the fair.

Pete Smith, also co-founder of the event and Songkick, said: “Hiring great people is the only way a start-up can succeed and get big. Yet one of the biggest challenges UK start-ups face is getting the most talented people to think about working for a start-up, rather than take the traditional route in a larger company.

“We’re very lucky that, in a tough time for the economy, the high-tech sector is bucking the downward trend, capital is being invested, and technology start-ups are experiencing growth and job creation.

“The Silicon Milkroundabout job fair brings together top tech start-ups with top tech talent. We want to show how, in working for a start-up, you can have a great time along for the ride at a high-growth company, and learn enough to perhaps found your own start-up in the future and become one of the UK’s next high-tech entrepreneurs.”

Silicon Milkroundabout takes place at the Old Truman Brewery, T1 Space, 81 Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL.
