AI middleware sees performance and memory optimisations

PathEngine upgrades to 5.13

PathEngine has upgraded its identically-named pathfinding SDK to version 5.13.00, bringing optimisations and improvements in the 3D content process.

Memory use has been optimised for mesh loading and collision preprocess generation, with pathfinding around dynamic obstacles also seeing a similar performance increase.

In addition to the new version, PathEngine has announced several new licensees – MASA Group will be using the tech for ‘SWORD Critical Infrastructure’ and 4A Games have licensed the middleware for its ‘Metro 2033: The Last Refuge’. GAMEHI has also been named as a new customer, using the tech on an unannounced title.
