PC free-to-play company will bring games to consoles

Perfect World opens console division

Perfect World Entertainment has decided its time to get in on the console market and launched a new division to bring its free-to-play titles to current and next generation systems.

The publisher is best known for PC free-to-play MMORPGs like Star Trek Online and Forsaken World, but as the business model begins to reach consoles Perfect World wants to make sure it takes advantage of the growing market.

"We are looking at this medium to better connect with gamers," said Perfect World’s general manager of publishing Andrew Brown.

"The opportunity to work on new types of projects with developers from all over the world is really exciting for us as a company. We are confident in our outlook entering into this new business, and you can expect Perfect World to be a major player in the console marketplace."

Perfect world plans to bring titles from both its current as well as its future lineup of titles from across its suite of developers.

“Bringing our titles to consoles is a natural progression for us, and we can’t wait to set a new standard for console MMORPGs and other genres,” said Perfect World CEO Alan Chen.
