P4VS plug-in embeds Microsoft platform with project management capabilities

Perforce Software debuts Visual Studio 2012 integration

Project management software outfit Perforce has created a new plug-in for Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2012.

Named P4VS, the plug-in lets Visual Studio users check out and in files, merge work with team members and view detailed file history. Furthermore, it lets developers make use of Perforce’s various project collaboration, analysis, and distributed workflows functions.

“Integration of Perforce’s product into Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 helps software development teams release high-quality, defect-free applications faster and resolve issues more efficiently,” said Tom Lindeman, director of the Visual Studio Industry Partner program.

“Together, Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and Perforce improve efficiencies and strengthens the collaboration experience for teams of any size, increasing the value each member brings to a development project.”

“This integration brings powerful Perforce features into Visual Studio, adding vital support for teams who need the best collaboration tools to handle complex development projects,” added Randy DeFauw, technical marketing manager for Perforce Software.

“We are dedicated to delivering scalable version management and making it accessible to our users from within whatever application they choose to work."

The Perforce Visual Studio Plug-in is available with immediate effect, and at no additional cost to those purchasing Perforce version 2012.1.
