Saban Brands hires former LucasArts and THQ executive to head mobile gaming division

Playforge gets Jack Sorensen as president

Jack Sorensen has been hired as the new president of The Playforge – Saban Brands’ San Francisco-based mobile social gaming division.

Sorensen is a 20-year veteran who served as executive vice president of THQ’s Worldwide Studios after growing LucasArts into a top domestic publisher during his tenure as president there.

"We look forward to Jack’s expertise and insights on our plans to deliver a steady stream of new games, new intellectual properties and new strategic collaborations this year," said Playforge co-founder Vince McDonnell.

Sorensen has previously managed brands for Pixar, LucasArts, The Sopranos, and Dreamworks, and will bring that to bear as he tries to strengthen Playforge’s intellectual property with character-based IP.

"Jack brings a wealth of experience in gaming and digital entertainment that will be a tremendous asset to Saban Brands as we work toward our goal of further expanding our reach from online and television to mobile," said Saban Brands president Elie Dekel.

"His extensive experience combined with his recent work as an entrepreneur and advisor in the mobile game industry make him uniquely suited to take The Playforge to the next level."
