Long-standing studio steps up as Gold Partner for anticipated ceremony

Rare on board as Develop Awards partner

Respected UK games developer Rare has stepped forward as a backer of the forthcoming Develop Industry Excellence Awards as a Gold Partner.

The only peer-voted awards for the UK and European games industry, the Develop Awards are this year taking place on July 11th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

Founded in 1985, Rare has a rich heritage spanning four decades that includes games such as Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country and, more recently, Kinect Sports and Viva Piñata.

"It’s never been more important to recognise the fantastic levels of talent and achievement we have here in Europe as the games industry continues to grow," said Rare’s senior studio director Craig Duncan.

"The principles of innovation behind these accomplishments are equally vital to Rare’s own evolutionary story, so it’s a pleasure for us to partner with the Develop Industry Excellence Awards in 2012. Best of luck to all this year’s worthy nominees and we’ll see you there on awards night."

The finalists for the Develop Awards were confirmed late last month.
