UK studio is top-ranking European independent in Develop 100

Rebellion celebrates number one

Rebellion is celebrating its success in the Develop 100, coming in as the number one independent developer in Europe.

It’s an title that the developer has had its eye on for quite some time, and following the success of The Simpsons Game and Star Wars Battlefield: Renegade Squadron (both PSP) the studio has hit that top spot, reaching number 16 in the overall ranking.

”Rebellion has been in this business for 16 years and never once have we tired of striving to develop innovative, exciting and above all, quality games," said Jason Kingsley, CEO and creative director.

"Our successes in 2007/8 have been the culmination of product focus, fantastic publisher relationships, inward investment and recruiting the very best people in the business. Rebellion has done very well and we’re rightly proud of our achievements, but none of this would have been possible without the passion, commitment and talent of our teams and it’s to them we thank for our successes.”

Chris Kingsley, Rebellion’s CTO, added: “Overall, 2007/8 could be called our best years so far, but we have a number of projects fully underway which we believe will push Rebellion even higher in the rankings – so there’s definitely more to come!”
