Kern becomes chairman and CCO, Weingartner appointed president and CEO

Red 5 reshuffles management

MMO developer Red 5 has shuffled its top-level management, putting Mark Kern (pictured) into the new role of chairman and CCO, while Michael Weingartner will leave his post of VP of engineering to become president and CEO of the firm.

Kern will now be in charge of the overall creative direction of the studio, with day-to-day operations now under Weingartner’s purview.

“We founded this studio with one goal in mind: make the ‘next big thing’," said said Mark Kern.

"In my new role I will be able to focus more closely on my true passion, which is game development. Michael Weingartner’s talents are well suited to help guide the company to its new phase of growth and opportunity.”

Weingartner added: “Since joining Red 5, I’ve been incredibly impressed by the studio’s talent and drive to create an experience that will set the next standard for MMOGs. Over the past few years, Mark has assembled a stellar team and established a reputation for quality. My number one priority is to continue that tradition by finding innovative ways to build upon the solid foundation.”
