Founders want to move away from work-for-hire and into original IP development

Remode Studios to close

UK developer Remode Studios will close its doors in March.

The Plymouth studio has performed work-for-hire with a number of clients including Sulake, Spil Games and The Wellcome Trust.

Founders Ella Romanos and Martin Darby said they were keen to start developing their own IP and finding new ways to raise resources and funding for its own titles.

They added their new plans would be announced soon.

"We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has worked with us over the years, to our clients, partners, funders and most of all to our whole team, without the talents and dedication of which we would have not have made it this far," read a statment on the studio’s website.

"If you are hiring, please get in touch at ella@remodestudios.com and we’d love to recommend the right person for your company.

"It’s been an incredible journey, and while this moment marks the end of an era, we’re excited about embracing the future."

The online and mobile games studio was formed in 2007 after its founders Ella Romanos and Martin Darby graduated from the University of Plymouth.

Projects it has worked on include the in-development Burrow, Habbo Speedway, Batio and Scuba Skills.
