EA CEO says industry needs to refocus on innovative creations

Riccitiello: Industry is ‘boring people to death’

EA’s CEO John Riccitiello has decried sequels, accused the industry for being boring and explained the reasoning behind the company’s recent restructure in his first interview since returning to the job running Electronic Arts.

In the interview, Riccitiello reportedly says that he fears the industry is not innovative enough.

"We’re boring people to death and making games that are harder and harder to play," he said, adding:

"For the most part, the industry has been rinse-and-repeat.

"There’s been lots of product that looked like last year’s product, that looked a lot like the year before."
