DotA-Allstars team members working on RTS-RPG hybrid League of Legends

Riot Games unveils first title

Riot Games, a Los Angeles-based studio that includes part of the team behind much-celebrated Warcraft 3 mod DotA-Allstars, has revealed its first title.

Staying with the roots of the game that made them so popular, the company is currently working on an online RPG/real-time strategy hybrid called League of Legends, offering persistent characters and social networking features such as chat rooms, clan support, in-game ladders and a forum.

“League of Legends will bring gamers competitive battle-arena style gameplay that builds upon and expands on innovative gameplay concepts that were pioneered in DotA-Allstars, one of the most popular mods of all time,” said Brandon Beck, co-founder and CEO of Riot Games.

“The team is applying its expertise and passion to producing a game that fuses premium art and gameplay features with deep community tools.”
