Two new faces join Dundee-based developer

Ruffian boosts design department headcount

Ruffian Games has hired two industry veterans to bolster its design department.

Steve Iannetta and Ed Campbell have joined the Dundee developer as lead designer and senior designer respectively.

"We’re delighted to have these guys on board," said Ruffian studio head Gaz Liddon. "These days most games are technically competent and look great but it’s a lot rarer for them to play well.

"We only want to make the very best games and you can only achieve that through great design. Steve and Ed joining is another step towards that goal."

Initially establishing himself as a graphic designer, Iannetta entered the games industry when he joined VIS in 1996 and has since worked with Lemon Studios, Realtime Worlds and Midway. Iannetta has previously held a number of key roles including senior mission design on Microsoft’s Crackdown and lead world designer on Midway’s Wheelman.

Meanwhile Campbell brings over 20 years of experience to Ruffian, beginning his career with cult 16-bit titles like Zool 2. More recently Campbell has contributed to high-profile titles like NARC and Crackdown.

"I’m delighted to be joining the excellent team at Ruffian.” commented Campbell. "There’s a lot of talented, experienced guys here and that, coupled with a real knowledge and love of games, is what makes this an exciting team to be a part of."
