UI firm experiences massive year-on-year growth in major MMO market

Scaleformâ??s Korean revenue grows 70 per cent

UI firm Scaleform has announced a 70 per cent year-on-year revenue growth in Korea, making that area the firm’s second largest market.

The company is attributing the growth to a growing popularity of their products in the region, as well as the country’s widespread use of Scaleform GFx utilised Flash, and Scaleform’s Input Method Editor (IME).

“Scaleform enables developers to produce high-quality interfaces, menus and HUDs without constraining system resources or bandwidth,” said Scaleform Korea country manager Dillon Seo.

“This is critical to the performance of massively multi-player online games (MMOs), which are the most popular game genre in Korea.”

Scaleform CEO and president Brendan Iribe described his company’s desire to re-focus engineering efforts to target the Korean market.

“We see enormous potential for the Korean video game market,” he said.

“We have made several key hires and adjusted our product roadmap to ensure we support this market to the best of our abilities and continue to rapidly grow in Korea.”
