Intel Developer Blog: John Evelyn used the Intel XDK development kit to bring his dream of hand-drawn visuals to iOS and Android

See how A Skyrocket Story was developed in HTML5

When he wanted to realise his vision for a hand-drawn mobile game, John Evelyn turned to Intel XDK, a free cross-platform development kit for HTML5 developers.

Producing iOS and Android versions of my game with it was seriously straightforward,” he said. “That allowed me to dedicate my energy and attention to making the best game I could.”

He was able to get a demo working on his Android phone within an hour of first installing Intel XDK on his PC, and was surprised at how well it performed despite his demo code not being optimised.

You can read more about his experiences with Intel XDK here.

His game, A Skyrocket Story, spans 46 levels across five worlds and is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

For more information, see the game’s entry in the Android App Showcase. (If you want a showcase entry for your own game, share your Android app here).

Intel XDK offers an integrated HTML5 development workflow, from the initial design, through testing, up to release into app stores. It’s available for Windows, OS X and Linux. Download Intel XDK for free here.
