New association brings together studios behind educational and other beneficial games

Serious Games Cluster set up in Finland

A new organisation has been founded in Finland dedicated to the developers behind serious games.

Simply titled Serious Games Cluster Finland, the association already has more than 30 members, all of whom have developed titles based around education, fitness, simulation or other beneficial forms of entertainment.

Members include Maths Elements dev Skillpixels, nature-focused Oyos Games, GPS location-based games creator Planetboard, Dramagame creator Tribe Studios, e-learning platform Viope Solutions, and more.

You can find out more about the association and its members at the official website.

"Serious Gaming Cluster Finland is originally an idea of Samuli Syvähuoko, the Grand Old Man of the Finnish game industry," said SGC Finland chairman Matti Kuha. "He noticed that many Finnish game developers are making serious games isolated and cut off from other developers – and sometimes without a serious games developer’s identity.

"Gamification and serious games are growing rapidly. They are predicted to become a huge success in the coming years. Finnish serious games developers can learn and work together to expand the successful Finnish gaming market towards a whole new direction."
