Civilization creator to discuss the 'psychology of game design' at global gathering

Sid Meier to keynote GDC 2010

GDC 2010 organisers have announced the first keynote for the event: Sid Meier, famed creator of the Civilization series.

Meier, who has spent over 25 years in the industry, will deliver a talk called ‘The Psychology of Game Design (Everything You Know is Wrong)’, in which he’ll discuss how games need to be targeted towards the psychology of the player, rather than base themselves on existing real-world models.

The keynote takes place on Friday March 12th, with the conference itself running from Tuesday March 9th to March 13th at the Moscone Centre in San Franscisco.

"It’s an honor to have Sid Meier, a true pioneer in game development, share his decades worth of insight at the 2010 Game Developers Conference," said Meggan Scavio, GDC Event Director.
