IDV's tech to be used in upcoming games

Sierra to use SpeedTree

Vivendi’s Sierra Games division has signed a deal to use IDV’s foliage middleware SpeedTree for use in a number of upcoming games.

The green-fingered tech has recently been used in the firm’s World in Conflict game by Massive Entertainment (pictured).

“The SpeedTree technology provides tremendous life-like and realistic features making players feel as though they are in the game,” said Brian Leake, vice president of Technology for Sierra Entertainment.

“For the next generation of gaming, SpeedTree software is an important tool to help create out-of-this-world outdoor environments that meet the highest standards of players.”
