Too Human studio rumoured to become a 'self-publisher'

Silicon Knights to hire 80 after govt funding

Ontario-based outfit Silicon Knights will nearly double in size following a multi-million dollar grant offered by state officials.

The developer of Too Human is said will expand from about 100 staff to 180.

There are conflicting reports on the value of the grant given by Ontario to Silicon Knights, with the fund put between three and four million Canadian dollars.

Second-hand information also indicated that Silicon Knights will become a self-publisher, though whether this will be for triple-A games is unclear.

Many studios self-publish smartphone and digital games but with triple-A, where the risks are sizable, developers often seek publishers for marketing support.

Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack said the grant is a “profound and long-lasting" support package.
