Toronto company's CEO resigns; company to leave mobile development for PCs and consoles

Silverbirch to focus on MMOs

Toronto-based Silverbirch – which developed the DS and PSP versions of indie darling N+ – is to leave the mobile and handheld development sector and focus instead on MMOs, reports Gamasutra.

The move comes as former president, director and CEO Derek van der Plaat resigned, to be replaced by Kevin Astle.

The company currently owns its own studio, Netherlands-based publisher Lighthouse Interactive, and has contracts with A&P Entertainment, Escalada International Limited, and Morsonwell – three companies that focus on consulting for online game operations and marketing.

It’s also currently in the process of acquiring Red Mile Entertainment, which publishes Heroes of the Pacific.
