UK developers to be canvassed in vast survey of the games industry and other media workforces

Skillset calls for game studio contributions to 2008 survey

Skillset, the UK’s sector skills council for creative media is calling on games developers to contribute to its 2008 Media Workforce Survey.

The survey is designed as a vast research project canvassing the workforces across a variety of creative media sectors.

Skillset says that the information will be critical in helping to: ‘Compare the career development opportunities of different demographic groups; Identify common routes of entry and progression; Establish current and emerging skills development needs; Identify problems with current training provision; Find out what factors are holding people back from developing and progressing in their careers.’

"The next Skillset Census will provide enlightening trend data," Skillset’s research director Neil Flintham told Develop.

"We will be seeking as high a response from the games workforce as possible.

"The higher the response achieved, the more robust the picture will be for games and the better the quality of information to keep the industry firmly on the map."
