Comment and change notifications to appear within Slack

Slack intergrates Perforce’s Helix Swarm

Perforce Software has developed an integration between its own Helix Swarm and widely-used communications tool Slack.

The new integration allows devs using Helix Swarm, the company’s web-based ’collaboration engine’, to track changes to their projects from within Slack itself. They will receive notifications when any files are changed or commented upon.

The Slack plug-in will be open-source, with devs able to help improve it through the Perforce Workshop.

Helix Swarm is part of Perforce Helix, the firm’s version management platform aimed at people working in different locations around the world.

“Many of our customers already use Slack for its ability to integrate with common third-party tools. Their teams receive important updates from a variety of applications within one central interface,” said Perforce’s senior director of strategic partnerships Doug Miller.

“We’re excited to extend that functionality to Helix Swarm. Our customers are now able to collaborate in their preferred environment, whether that’s Helix Swarm, Slack or both.”
