Latest version of 3D app includes HDR, SDK APIs, UV editing enhancements and better audio support

Softimage XSI 6.5 available

The latest version of Softimage’s XSI is available now.

Version 6.5 includes over 30 key enhancements which Softimage says "were developed for key customers such as Lionhead Studios, Valve, EA, Animal Logic, Nerdcorps, Pandemic and NCSoft".

New features specifically include HDR rendermap support, additional SDK APIs, UV editing enhancements, and better audio support.

There are two different versions of XSI 6.5 available at different prices designed to target different user groups.

XSI 6.5 Essentials includes Hair & Fur, and Syflex Cloth capabilities. The price for Essentials goes up to increase to $2,995; maintenance and upgrades stay the same at $799 and $999 respectively. Essentials is only available to new customers and customers on active maintenance.

XSI 6.5 XSI Advanced is designed for technical directors and studio IT managers, and comes with crowd and behavioral simulation system Behavior. The price of Advanced has fallen to $4,995 while maintenance has decreased to $1,333.
