THQ, Southlogic and DATAcrea sign up for foliage tech

SpeedTree adds new licensees

Three new companies have signed up as licensees of IDV’s SpeedTree technology.

THQ has licensed the foliage middleware for multiple titles, including UK-developed 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, while Southlogic Studios will be using the tech on Deer Hunter Tournament. Slovakia-based developer DATAcrea has also integrated it into the forthcoming GolfBlaster3D.

Speaking on the THQ deal, IDV CEO Chris King said: “Thanks to the originality and diversity among THQ studios. This agreement means new opportunities for SpeedTree to shine in a variety of genres and distinct environments. We look forward to supporting them in creating an outdoor look and feel unique to each project.”
