Director behind Indiana Jones enlisted to handle Xbox's biggest entertainment property

Spielberg on board for new Halo TV series

Acclaimed film director Steven Spielberg has thrown his support behind a brand new Halo TV series for Xbox One.

Spielburg will serve as executive producer of the new Halo TV series.

The series, announced on stage during Microsoft’s next generation console meeting, will be produced by 343 Industries and Xbox Entertainment Studios.

“I’m excited by the potential of bring the story telling magic of Halo with the innovation of Xbox One,” said Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries.

“Congrats to the entire team going into the future of Xbox. Like all of you here today, I’ve been playing games for years,” said Spielberg in a video message.

“[The stories it is possible to tell in games] have gotten more completion as the tech has improved. I’m really exited to be a part of this [with Halo], where tech and myth-making converge.”

This new Halo TV series is the first project to be announced that Microsoft’s newly formed TV division is working on. Nancy Tellem, CEO of Xbox TV and a former CBS and Warner Bros executive, said it has studios in Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver and London are all working to make new experience to, such as drama, comedy, completions and digital shorts.
