Tokyo publisher joins the likes of EA and Capcom in new mobile push

Square Enix jumps to Android

Square Enix has become the latest traditional publishing giant to launch an Android division.

The Final Fantasy firm will launch a range of games for Google’s operating system, including Dragon Quest, Chaos Ring and Crystal Defenders.

The group has already spread its business to Apple’s iOS devices, having launched several Final Fantasy titles on iPhones and iPads. A remake of the original is now coming to Android too, according to Andriasang.

Due to the open nature of the Android OS, Square Enix has elected to host its own digital store, called the Square Enix Market.

Other traditional publishers pushing hard in the mobile space includes Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Capcom and Take-Two.
