Players flock to store as summer sale nears end

Steam racks up record eight million concurrent users

More than eight million concurrent users accessed Steam yesterday, a new record for Valve’s digital distribution platform.

Hitting 8,020,679 at its peak, that beats the previous high of seven million back in December last year.

At the time of writing, the number of concurrent Steam users has dropped to just over five million.

The new milestone coincides with the Steam sale, that ends today. Current top played games include DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Garry’s Mod and Payday 2.
