Industry analysts, SuperData, have announced that the Samsung Gear VR is still the most popular headset in terms of units shipped.
Following on from the firms research for Q1 2017, the headset shipped 782,000 units ad is expected to hit the 6.7m by the end of 2017.
"A large portion of last year’s 4.5m Gear VR shipments came from S7 pre-orders so we anticipate the S8’s success with get even more devices into consumer hands," said SuperData VP Stephanie Llamas to Develop’s sister site MCV.

UK games charity Into Games has today opened applications for IG50 2026, its annual programme that recognises 50 of the most talented yet-to-be-hired people in UK games from working-class and low-income backgrounds. The announcement comes as Ubisoft joins as the headline sponsor and as Into Games confirms that 11 winners from the previous 2025 cohort have been placed in paid roles in the UK games industry through its Boost placement programme.
