Game and forum taken offline while breach is addressed

The War Z gets shut down amid hacker attack

Having already been forced off Steam following controversy about missing content and inaccurate game descriptions, the poorly received zombie shooter has now suffered at the hands of hackers.

Creators OP Productions have taken the game and its forum completely offline while it addresses the issues.

The company says hackers breached both the game’s forums and databases and successfully obtained email addresses and encrypted passwords.

As payments are handled by a third party, that information has not been compromised.

“We are issuing this Security Alert to all Survivors as a precaution so you can take some precautionary measures on your own,” the official statement read.

“We do not collect the names or addresses of our gamers so that information was not impacted unless you posted it on the forum. We are investigating whether additional information may have been obtained."
