Developer-focused event to run alongside Cologne games show in August

Think brings GDC Europe to gamescom

GDC organisers Think Services has acquired Global Games Media, a European event management and biz dev firm run by former GCDC conference director Frank Sliwka – and announced a new developer event, GDC Europe, to take place alongside the 2009 gamescom in Cologne, Germany.

As part of the deal, Sliwka will become Think Services’ VP of European business development, as well as serving as event director for GDC Europe.

"We are thrilled to present GDC Europe during gamescom," said Kathy Schoback, EVP of Global Events at Think Services.

"A world class game developer event belongs at the premier European game industry event. With the support of Koelnmesse, BIU (the German Trade Association of Interactive Entertainment Software), and the City of Cologne, Europe’s most significant games gathering will definitely be a great success, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Frank Sliwka bring his deep experience to helping deliver GDC Europe."

Oliver P. Kuhrt, executive vice president of Koelnmesse, added: "We are pleased to welcome the European development community to GDC Europe during gamescom. The team in charge of GDC Europe, Think Services and Frank Sliwka, are professionals who are renowned for organizing internationally respected developer events and who have deep industry experience, strong networking connections, and know-how."

GDC Europe will run from August 17th to 19th in Cologne, Germany. For more details, check out the placeholder event website.
