Universomo wrapping things up, but publisher to continue working with external developers

THQ mobile studio enters liquidation

Games publisher THQ has confirmed that its Finnish mobile games studio Universomo has entered liquidation. Rumours have been flying all day within the mobile games industry, but a spokesperson confirmed the news to Mobile Entertainment.

"We are very excited about digital gaming and have increased our investment in this area," said the spokesperson, speaking to our sister site.

"We have more than 15 games and entertainment applications scheduled for release on mobile handsets this year. That said, we did place Universomo into liquidation."

How is the company going to release those 15 games and apps? Through a mixture of outsourcing, and resources elsewhere in the company.

"We have determined to develop digital games using a global network of external developers as well as our recently announced THQ Digital studios," continues the spokesperson.
