Newer team to take over from Maxis on world-famous series

Tilted Mill to develop new Sim City

Long-term developer of Maxis will not be involved in the latest version of SimCity, the game studio head Will Wright designed, it has emerged.

Instead, EA has chosen Caesar IV developer Tilted Mill to take the helm as the series heads in what is being dubbed a ‘new direction’.

An official statement from the game’s president and director of development Chris Beatrice reads: “I do not want to mislead anyone: This SimCity is not a realistic urban simulation, which I understand to many, represents the heart of what SimCity is.

“No one is blind to that. And if you’re just completely turned off, even angered by the mere notion of any game called SimCity that is not a detailed, realistic urban simulator, I absolutely understand that viewpoint, and absolutely respect it."
