GarageGames-supported online learning site reveals initial line-up

TorqueSchool opens its doors

TorqueSchool, an online course site for GarageGames’ Torque engine, has officially opened its first classes for pre-registration.

‘Introduction to Torque Art with Milkshape’ teaches students how to model props and items with the popular shareware modeller Milkshape, also covering the pipeline from the program to the Torque Game Engine.

‘Introduction to Torque Game Engine Advanced’ is an intermediate-level course that introduces users to the differences between GarageGames’ standard Torque Game Engine and Torque Game Engine Advanced, its shader-enhanced bigger brother, with special focus on the new Atlas terrain engine and Materials system.

Finally, ‘The Art of Mission Design’ covers level design basics, with a full treatise on the level editor built into TGE and TGEA.

Courses cost $120 each, with an early-bird special rate of $80 available until September 30th.

“We have been accumulating some excellent feedback from the community and will be making many small but important changes in the near future,” said Dave Young, TorqueSchool administrator.

“At TorqueSchool, our mission is to help prepare artists and developer for the coming rush in game development, and it’s the perfect time to get in and get involved.”

More information and sample materials can be found at the TorqueSchool website.
